My love of wellbeing and working with people drew me to train in holistic therapies – I wanted a career that I could be passionate about. I enrolled on a beauty and holistic therapy course and my journey began. On completion of my course I began working as a Spa Therapist at the Cowshed, Babington House, offering a range of bespoke treatments and working with their organic products which I loved. Inspired by this, more training naturally followed – reflexology, reiki healing, Dermalogica face mapping and an introduction to aromatherapy.
Family commitments meant my journey changed paths along the way and I found myself working 9 to 5 in the corporate world. But as they say, everything happens for a reason and I have gained a whole world of knowledge and transferable skills from working in contract management for 9 years – leadership, greater understanding of people’s needs and motivations, open communication and it has helped me develop business management skills.
But I knew this was not my future path so decided to leave my management role in 2016 and venture to India, embarking on a yoga teacher training programme. This experience was inspiring on so many levels from self development and personal growth to understanding the philosophy of yoga and teaching methods. Most of all, I enjoyed completing my training in beautiful India where life is very simple and there is time to truly focus on what feels right to you.
I have worked at a number of music festivals across the UK providing treatments and therapies and have also been part of the wellbeing team at Obonjan festival in Croatia. I love the combination of relaxation and nourishing time out – especially being in the sun. I’ve also worked on yoga retreats in Ibiza (in collaboration with Sunshine Yoga) providing a range of therapeutic body treatments for guests.
My love of dance has also see me work alongside Morning Gloryville conscious clubbing in London, providing massage treatments for early morning ravers who come together on a monthly basis to enjoy love, fun and dance without drugs or alcohol.
I am now involved in developing a programme to help elderly students have access to yoga. I’ve started working with a number of residential care homes providing gentle asanas and meditation sessions. The positive effect this has on people is so rewarding and it brings me a lot of joy to see smiling faces at the end of the practice. Balancing body and mind always makes people feel good and I love being able to facilitate that.
